Cala Macarella

39’ 56”.6 N, 3’ 56”.17 E
anchorage on menorca
Macarella and Macarelleta are a pair of calas that are sheltered and popular. They make a ideal destination from Ratjada or Alcudia after crossing the Menorca Channel

The beaches are wide and sandy, and there is often an area roped off for swimmers. In summer this area expands, reducing the amount of space for yachts.

The smaller beach, Macarelleta, often becomes a nudist beach in the course of the day.

There are caves in the cliff side which are often inhabited during the summer

Holding is good in 3-6 metres of water, although it is open to the southern quadrant.

This is one of my favourite anchorages on Menorca.
